Portland Fall

So this is part one of the photos from yesterday. Jonas and I went walking around to collect leaves and pine cones.

We came across a very sweet and affectionate black kitty. Jonas wanted to stay and play with her all day.

I am insanely jealous of how photogenic this kid is. I am cursed with being tragically unphotogenic, which is why there are no photos of me anywhere. My face just somehow completely morphs itself into a weird mess no matter what I do. But luckily Jonas and David are both beautifully photogenic :)

I love these buildings. There are a lot which make up a whole neighborhood and all of them have ivy growing all over them. They also have huge gated and locked courtyards. I am incredibly jealous. Anytime you see an iron fence or gate in this post it belongs to these buildings.

He still loves collecting and playing with sticks.

I would also like to point out that I have done absolutely no photoshopping to smooth out this kid's face. His skin really is that perfect. Jealous! And on another technical note, very shallow DOF has always been my favorite, so I have always shot with the aperture wide open (on my current lens it's 1.4). This time I decided to step out of my box and bring the aperture up to at least 4.0 - 4.5 and I really love the way it looks. Hurray for experimenting, even if it's something as simple as moving up (or down, whatever I can never remember) a few steps.
