Allons-y!

Things have been busy and hectic lately.  In about 40 hours we will be getting in a huge Penske truck and starting our move across the country.  I am going to miss this apartment and neighborhood a lot.  I will probably miss Virginia a lot in general (considering that I have lived here for the past 17 years), but it's not something I'm feeling yet.  There are few people that I will miss, but I will miss them fiercely.

Most of October has been annoyingly warm around here;  the trees have barely changed color.  But yesterday was so incredibly cold that you could have convinced me that it was going to snow.

Our days lately have been spent packing, cleaning, and watching a lot of British television shows (The Catherine Tate Show, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Fortysomething) and Kids in the Hall.

Yesterday evening produced one of the most beautiful sunsets I have seen in a long time.

Tom Waits has a new album out called "Bad as Me" and it is quite wonderful; David and I have been listening to it nonstop.  The songs already feel like classic Tom.

Another exciting piece of info:  My dear friend Kenny (with his lady Emily!) and his Halloween-inspired home will be featured on Dr. Drew's Lifechangers tomorrow, airing at 3 or 3:30 I'm not sure which.  A few years ago he moved off to North Carolina and built a replica (as accurate as possible, as the original house itself wasn't even technically suited to be a home) of the Michael Myers house.  Unfortunately I have not been able to visit since it's completion, but David and I visited while the basic structure was intact (plus there are photos on the site).  The house is beautiful and Kenny and Emily are two of the most unique and wonderful people I have had the pleasure of knowing.  You guys should definitely check out their appearance on the show as well as their site!

Hopefully I will have a chance for more photos and at least one more update before Tuesday morning, but if not:  Have a good Halloween, everyone!
